The Oklahoma Fire Danger Model produces 1-km resolution colored maps of four fire danger indices: Spread Component (SC), Energy Release Component (ERC), Burning Index (BI), and Ignition Component (IC). The model also produces maps of 1-hour Dead Fuel Moisture (FM) and creates daily maps of the Keetch-Byram Drought Index (KBDI).

In addition to the model output, this site includes weekly colored maps of satellite-derived "visual greenness" and "relative greenness" at 1-km resolution and examples of model output from wildfire episode days.

For a detailed discussion of the Oklahoma Fire Danger Model and the meaning of its output, please consult the Model Description page.

This model has been developed by Oklahoma State University in conjunction with the Fire Sciences Lab of the US Forest Service in Missoula, MT.
